ASTRO CHICKENS Review: Chicken Aliens Won't Leave You Alone
Blast alien chickens across 10 environments in this free online shooter. Pick a ship, grab power-ups, and survive endless waves. Hard mode is brutal.
What is ASTRO CHICKENS?
You're a pilot blasting through endless waves of alien chickens before they swarm your ship across 10 different environments. You earn coins from kills, grab power-ups mid-wave, and every fifth wave drops a boss fight on you. Each ship has its own special ability on cooldown, triggered by Space or right-click, so swapping ships actually changes how you play. This one's for you if you like score-chasing shooters and don't mind no real ending. The endless format means you're always chasing a higher number, which gets old for some people but clicks if you're a "one more run" type. Skip it if you want a story or a finish line, because there's literally no finish — just waves and a score.
Honestly I spent about 20 minutes on this one before I figured out the controls — but once it clicks, it clicks. If you end up liking ASTRO CHICKENS, there's more where that came from. Check out Sniper Pixel Shooting: A Browser Shooter That Doesn't Suck for a similar vibe on BB Online Game. Both load right in your browser, zero download.
If the endless score-chasing loop hooks you, Escape Road 3 scratches a similar itch with its run-based format and escalating difficulty.
How to Play ASTRO CHICKENS
Open the lobby, pick an environment and ship from the grids, set your difficulty (Normal, Hard, or Insane), and hit Launch Mission. The Get Ready screen waits for a Space press or canvas tap before you actually drop in. A single run on Normal might last 15-20 minutes if you're decent, longer if you're learning. First time in, I picked Hard immediately because I'm stubborn and regretted it fast — enemies swarm way harder and I burned through coins on healing power-ups. The boss every fifth wave is where runs actually end for me, since dodging while landing hits is trickier than it looks. Coins don't carry over across runs though, which kinda kills the upgrade loop incentive.
For another quick-pickup arcade browser game that rewards pattern recognition, Orbivert is worth a look too.
Game Controls ASTRO CHICKENS
Movement is your mouse to aim and click to shoot, with Space (or right-click) triggering your ship's special ability on cooldown. Pretty standard twin-stick setup once you get rolling, though it took me a minute to realize right-click also fires the special, not just Space. Settings for difficulty sit right in the lobby before launch.
Keyboard controls can feel a bit weird the first 2 or 3 rounds, but they get comfortable fast. For a different control setup, try Mineblock Zombie Survival: Free Browser Shooting Game — it uses a similar scheme and runs just as smooth on BB Online Game.

Tips & Tricks ASTRO CHICKENS
Start on Normal even if Normal feels easy — learn the chicken patterns first
Don't blow your ship special the second it's off cooldown, save it for dense waves
Boss every 5th wave means you're safe to play greedy on waves 1-4, then turtle up
Coins reset between runs so spend them on power-ups mid-mission, not upgrades
Right-click triggers your special too, useful when your left hand is on movement
Lesson learned the hard way: I kept picking Hard first and burning out at wave 12, don't be me
If you wanna cool down between chicken-blasting sessions with something more chill, Fast Decode is a nice change of pace.
Why Play ASTRO CHICKENS?
If you've played other endless shooters, ASTRO CHICKENS does the chicken-swarm gimmick better than most and the per-ship abilities add some real variety. It's worse than bigger budget stuff in the visuals department, but the boss-every-five-waves pacing keeps it from feeling like one long slog. The Hard mode is genuinely tough, which is more than I can say for a lot of browser shooters that phone it in.
