Outbreak Ops Review: A Solid Free Zombie Shooter You Can Play Right Now

A typical run drops you into a zone with a pistol and tasks you with wiping out waves of zombies. Each level takes about five to ten minutes depending on your loadout and how much you're willing to kite enemies around abandoned cars. The coin payouts are decent enough that you can usually afford a new gun every three or four stages, which keeps the gameplay loop moving. One thing that messed me up early on was blowing all my coins on a shotgun upgrade instead of saving for the SMG. The shotgun reloads too slowly for the later bunker missions where the infected just swarm you from every angle. Boss zombies show up periodically with unique attack patterns, and they will absolutely wreck you if you just stand still holding down the fire button.

Movement is standard WASD, aiming is all mouse, and left click fires. The Shift key handles your dash and Spacebar chucks grenades. Honestly, it took me a solid fifteen minutes to realize R reloads your weapon manually instead of just waiting for the empty clip auto-reload. The controls are tight enough that kiting large groups feels natural once you memorize the layout.

Outbreak Ops doesn't reinvent the genre, but the controls feel surprisingly responsive compared to other free browser shooters. The progression system actually gives you a reason to keep pushing through the harder levels instead of just quitting after ten minutes. It's a solid pick if you want something mindless to play on a lunch break.
